Come Hear NC Music Day

On June 21, 2024, Governor Roy Cooper established the North Carolina Music Office by executive order, marking a major milestone for music in our state. The announcement was part of a World Music Day celebration at the Executive Mansion, hosted by the NC Arts Council.

To kick things off, 13 counties across North Carolina joined in with performances in parks and plazas, surprise pop-up concerts, music education events, and neighbors jamming together on porches.

Now, we're turning up the volume.

How to Join the Celebration

Ready to get loud and proud? Whether you’re hosting live performances at your site or rocking out on social media, join us on June 21 for Come Hear NC Music Day!

Play, sing, or share music, and be sure to use the hashtag #CHNCMusicDay and tag @ComeHearNC or co-collab with us! We can’t wait to see (and hear) how you’re celebrating North Carolina’s music scene.
 

Make Music

Lean into your space and invite the community to make music any way they can. Encourage joyful noise-making, busking, pop-up performances, etc. to not only celebrate your local talent but to increase your visitorship as well.

Share Music

You all have a tremendous history of thoughtfully curated programming. Re-purposes and re-share those moments you are most proud of throughout the day on social platforms. ’

Teach Music

Have a printable craft or educator video, lesson, or lecture? Come Hear NC Music Day is also a great time to increase the understanding of our state’s deep music heritage through micro-learning and sharing of resources.
