Dancing in Danbury
Located on the Dan River and near the picturesque mountain views and waterfalls of Hanging Rock State Park, Danbury is a true hidden gem. Danbury has historically been a hotspot for hiking, fishing, biking, and the like. Drivers and motorcyclists have found themselves drawn to the area as well, attracted by the numerous scenic roadways in Stokes County. Surrounded by all this natural beauty, it’s easy to see how this county seat of Stokes County served to inspire artists, musicians, and creatives of all kinds.
Characteristic of North Carolina’s musical landscape, Danbury is one “star” in a constellation of musical talent and heritage throughout the state. For example, Walnut Cove, another town in Stokes County, is the hometown of Grammy nominated mandolinist Alan Bibey. Likewise, Danbury is roughly 25 miles from Winston-Salem; home of artists like 9th Wonder, Ben Folds, and Mitch Easter of The dBs, just to name a few.
One doesn’t have to travel outside of Danbury to enjoy live music, however. This “hidden gem” with a total population of less than 200 people is home to great intimate venues, unforgettable backdrops, and fun-filled festivals.
